Κείμενο και πληροφορίες στην Ουαλλική και Αγγλική γλώσσα. Τριήμερος αγωνας προσανατολισμού στη χερσόνησο Gower της Νοτίου Ουαλίας στη Βρετανία. Η έμφαση δοθηκε στην ενδυνάμωση της φιλίας μεταξυ των αγωνιζομένων και όχι στον ανταγωνισμό. Το απόγευμα στην κατασκήνωση οι αγωνιζόμενοι έψησαν ολοι μαζί και έφαγαν. Μετα έπαιξαν παιχνίδια στα χωράφια. Ηταν μία υπέροχη εμπειρία.

Diwrnod cyntaf: Newton/ Drenewydd yn Notais
Mi teithion ni am chwech awr i fynd i Pen Gwyr/Gower. Ddaru ni stopio yn Aberestwyth i rhoi lift i Robert Griffiths (MWOC club). Ron ni pedwar o bobl mewn car Jim, Jane, Robert a Kostas. Mae Oxwitch camping site yn dda a fawr iawn. Mae gen nhw bwll nofio bach ond mae traeth deg munud cerdded yn hir. Gosod pabell yn gyflym. Yn y pnawn mi teithion ni un awr mwy i fynd i ras. Ron ni teimlo wedi blino cyn i ni dechrau ras. Roedd cwrs cyfeirianu cyntaf y tu allan i Newton/ Drenewydd yn Notais. Roedd na lot o dywni tywod. Mae llwybr arfodir Penybont ar ogwr yn fynna. Mae’r ffilm Laurens of Arabia (1962) wedi’i lleoli yng Nhymru ar traeth hwn.
Diwrnod ail: Oxwitch beach
Digwyddodd ras cyfeirianu ail yn Cerrig Gwynion /white stones yn Oxwitch. Mae na lot o dywnni tywod. Mae na lot o degeirianau a blodau gwyllt cynnar yr haf yn y twynni. Mae na clogwyni serth yn fyma. Roedd ras yn anodd achos mae na lot o lwybrau ym hob man yn yr ardal. Mae na aderyn a bwn, dyfrgi a gwiberau. Roedd rheolwrau ras rhubuddo am gwiberau mewn twynni tywod. Ynunffoddus un ferch yn y ras ei bod hi wedi brathu/cnoi gan gwiber. Mae gan y warchodfa draeth gwych, on dos cerrdwch i mewn I’r tir rhyw ychydig, bydd lawer o fywyd gwyllt i chi ei ddarganfod. Mae tywni tywod , llynoedd, coetiroedd, clogwyni, morfeydd heli a chorsydd dwr croyw i gyd yn rhan o’r warchofa arfordirol amrywiol hon. Mae traeth yn hir, tywydd yn gyfleous ond mae’r dwr yn fudr.
Diwrnod trydydd: Reynoldston
Ddaru ni packio pabell a pethau eraill cyn i ny fynd y ras trydydd wrth ymal Reynoldston. Roedd na lot o cefallau yn yr ardal. Roedd na ras relay. Rhedais i ddim yn ystod trydydd diwrnod achos fy troed i yn brifo ers cwrs cyfeirianu arall yn Moel Tryfan wrth ymyl Waunfawr dydd Iau diwetha. Ar ol ras mi dechreuon ni teithio adre.

First day: Newton/ Drenewydd yn Notais
Thanks to Jim Wood and his wife Jane we did manage to travel to South Wales. The first event took place in Newton on the Bridgend Coast path. The Bridgend coast path is an 11,5 mile (18.5 klm.) route which passes through two outstanding coastal national Nature Reserves and the seaside resort of Porthcawl. In the evening Margaret of SBOC went around the tents to meet the orienteers and prepare for next days’ events.
Second day: Oxwitch beach
The second event took place in Oxwitch beach /White stones. The sand dunes are impressive and quite steep sometimes. There are bitterns and otters in the area. Runners had been warned beforehand about the presence of adders in sand dunes and stones. Unfortunately, there was an incident again during the race but everything went well in the end. The reserve has a wonderful beach but there is also a wildlife oasis a little bit inland. It was here in the wildlife oasis that the second event took place. Sand dunes, lakes, woodlands, cliffs and salt and freshwater marshes are all part of this varied coastal reserve. After the second event in the evening there was a barbecue by all orienteers in the campsite. For our group food for the occasion was provided by Jim Wood. The orienteers played rounders in an open field.
Third day: Reynoldston
The third event took place on the hills near Reynoldston. It was a relay event. There were a lot of horses grazing in the area. At the highest spot there was a burial stone called Arthur’s table. After the awards’ ceremony we started the long journey back.
